Snapping Aboot

Hrossey

At dinner time I nipped down to the Aberdeen Maritime Museum to see the What Might Have Been exhibition which shows some plans for schemes in Aberdeen that never came to fruition. These included such gems as diverting the Dee so that it would have reached the sea at Balnagask and a railway heading North to Peterhead ... across the Links. Anyway, the Maritime Museum is worth a visit in its own right (admission is free, but remember that it is shut on Mondays) ... I like the fact that it has some big windows that you can look out over the harbour from. So here you have Northlink's ferry MV Hrossey ready to make her overnight trip up to Lerwick in Shetland. It's a long way from Aberdeen to Lerwick - she left at 18:45 this evening and is due to dock in Lerwick at 07:30 tomorrow.
