Jungle curry for tea

Back in the B.B. (Before Blip) era we once sat by a river in Borneo and enjoyed a meal cooked in lengths of bamboo over an open fire. The main dish was a curry made from canned sardines. It seemed delicious at the time - but possibly because we were about 120 miles and 2 days away from our last restaurant. Tonight, with C out for tea, and little in the fridge I decided to rustle up something not dissimilar before heading to the pub quiz. It was actually quite nice, but having just come home again, I've realised why it's best prepared in the open air.
