What I saw this morning..........
...........is fallen leaves - horrors it can't be autumn yet, surely not!! But yes, there was the tree, looking very golden with some already fallen on the pavement.....seemed like a blip just waiting for me. I had to drive around the block again, slipped into a parking space, and took a couple of quick pictures.....I even got asked "what I was doing", and another young man asked if "I was OK"!! hee hee. Did I look that stupid?? Don't answer that!!!
The building behind up until a couple of years ago was called the Royal Hotel, but has been sold, done up rather nicely inside & out. Has a flash apartment upstairs, a beauty salon and another business downstairs.....looks great & is so good to see these old building being restored.
The sun is shining here and at Christchurch today which is a blessing, but all is grim there, no more miracles today.....the authorities and volunteers are working long hours and so hard, & at times putting their own lives at risk. Help from all around the world has arrived with recovery teams and the like. Isn't it amazing and awesome how countries and people rally around in tough times. Best thoughts to you all up there.
Doug has been called to ChCh to help with roading - for how long he has no idea.
Rainie
Late Edit: No further rescues as at Friday 8 am.
