Winter Scene

This was one of the many nice views from today's mountain bike ride. I like riding in the late afternoon because the woods and fields in the light are stunning. This is unfortunately from a camera phone (with the resolution set to 240x320 no less- I had to blow it up to make it big enough), so it is not very high quality, but it is what it is.

Today was fun riding- air temperature in the lows 20s, wind chill in the low teens (Fahrenheit). Crashing on an icy downhill was another highlight. I am sure my left hip/knee/forearm will thank me tomorrow for my wonderful cycling skills.

I know at least one other blipper has been here, though I am not sure if he will recognize it.

Also, G reminded me that this could be a good time to share the (dull) story of my absence: The shop i bought my camera from sold me quite a few apparently store-brand accessories. Most of these have held up fine, but the batteries were an issue from the start. One never really fit in the charger well enough to keep the contacts in contact, so I had to stuff some tape in the bottom to make it fit. One day after charging both batteries the camera turned on but didn't have enough power to actually record an image, and I was never able to get the batteries charged again. I managed to finish out the semester of photography class going through four AAs every 40 frames or so, but after that, I stopped taking pictures because it was really getting expensive. I contacted the store (a very large store with a handful of retail locations) and the salesman was very nice, but when I went in over Thanksgiving break to get a new charger, they told me they couldn't exchange it without the defective one, which was still at school. I was finally able to exchange the whole bundle over my winter break, and now I have all my gear functional again. Only problem is, four months with no camera has rather depleted my motivation. Oh well.
