Humour amidst the devastation

While we were driving to retrieve my car abandoned in a mall car parking building after the 22nd huge earthquake we saw this sign stuck in the silt and clay caused by liquefaction as an effect from the earthquake.

This is when water and silt, mud and dirt is pushed up through the earths surface and floods the streets causing cars to be buried, houses and streets to be flooded, and filthiness through the streets.

This is in the suburb of Richmond, close to the mall, and my sons school. It was great to be able to have a laugh.. probably the first laugh for many since before the Tuesday quake!

The mall I was in is completely wrecked, and will not be open for months if at all. The parking building was very dangerous to be in, but they allowed me up to get my car. I sent my partner up and was horrified when he came back down saying that the battery was flat! we had to drive up and jump start it to bring it back down, there were light fittings broken and dangling down directly infront of my car, and I am lucky it is in one piece.. I only bought the darned thing on Tuesday morning!

Look at my post for yesterday for more of an idea of Christchurch and the hell we are living in.
