Time to leave the nest

Our Society finches hatched on 3rd of January and yesterday the young ones left the nest for their first excursion into the biiiiig cage! Today M chased them around for a bit with the camera until he got this shot. I think he was more in need of a rest than the young birds after that!

Society finches are such wonderful birds, much nicer than the Zebra finches we had before them. The bird to the upper left is the proud mother!
