Purple Patch

The first of these crocuses was peeping out about ten days ago, but for one reason or another I hadn't been past them again since. They form a nice purple patch on campus, just as they did last year. We even had sunshine to enjoy them in, which was helpful as I was leading a guided walk around campus.

The act of taking this picture became a social event, with people stopping to share admiration for the crocuses, and in one case to take a picture, "to send to my girlfriend" he said, as if a young man shouldn't be seen in public taking pictures of flowers.
