Spirit of Friendship

This mask, carved into a tree trunk is in the company of the 'kiwi' shown in a previous blip.

I believe this to be a Maori Pou whenua which was recently gifted by the City of Wellington to Harrogate Council and now takes pride of place in the 'New Zealand Garden' in Valley Gardens.

Such posts represent the relationship between the people of the land, their ancestors and their environment.
