Ariadne

I took some time out from judging a photo competition today to take some photos. It was actually an experiment to try out an off camera flash for macro work (something I've never done before). I was quite impressed with the iridescence that it picked up in this spider's legs. I suspect this also has something to do with a recent molt, but even so, it's different.
I do find macro work really therapeutic, even when it doesn't go to plan. (I was about 2 seconds too late in my set up today. Nearly got a 1:1 face-on shot of this one eating her mate. Gutted.)
Got the judging done though.
