Its no holiday camp
Travelers have set up camp in the car park of an empty office block near my work. In fact, there's two camps within half a mile of each other.
The first camp has turned into a dump, rubbish strewn all over the place, dogs running wild and fouling everywhere.
I do have sympathy for how travelers are treated, however, they don't make it easy on people to see their point of view or stick up for them and their choice of way of life. No matter who you are, from which ethnicity you are from, it's socially unacceptable to simply dump your litter wherever you please, and a bin from B&Q doesn't cost that much. And as for the dogs...how about don't have any if your not prepared to clean up after them and keep them on a lead. Well that's my view anyway.
Considering the inside of their homes are immaculate, and travelers take great pride in their caravans and traditions, I simply can't understand why they don't clean up the mess outside. People probably wouldn't take such a harsh view of their way of life if the sites were always clean and tidy during and after they were there.
The other camp as it happens is spotless, only two caravans and no sign of dogs, and i actually feel my car is safer where its parked with them there!
Whilst the programme that was on tv recently (gypsy wedding) was viewed as controversial i think it was very interesting. Are the government living up to their responsibilities and making sure the are suitable sites for them to stop at?
