Beauty in adversity

Drove over to mum's in the eastern suburbs. Her brother has died as so what with that and the earthquake, she has not had the best week. She has travelled to Turangi to be with his family.

The drive over was sobering and sad. This the the side of town where we lived just one month ago. Our old street looks pretty bad - loads of silt being removed.

Mum's house stunk from the rotting food (no power) so that was ditched and windows opened. She has loads of cracks which will need to be checked.

But her garden flowers are glorious so I share this one with you as a sign of the good things nature can bring.
