Blessed

I was in all morning working and mucking around and doing chores and drinking coffee and the like, working up to leaving the house. Where I live it's pretty nice, there's a park directly opposite, a canal with boats and ducks and stuff that I can see from my kitchen window. It's all very scenic, every time my parents come up to visit they comment on what a lovely 'outlook' we have.

But 10 minutes away there's stuff that I love to photograph, stuff like this. A bit broken , a bit rundown. Peeling, faded, old. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea but for me, I feel very lucky to be near it. I grew up in Hull, not the prettiest city in the land. Went to university in Sheffield, (commonly known as the Socialist Republic Of South Yorkshire in them there days), acres and acres of ruined industry, a derelict legacy of the past in the Don Valley. Now I'm here, areas of real contrast on my doorstep. It looks like it's all about to be done up, work has started, progress has been made. Soon, all of this may be gone.

So, quick local blip trip for this accompanied by the ipod on shuffle. Summat happened that I don't get that often. Not one, not even two in a row, but three, yes. three tracks in a row that I'd never heard in my life before. This was the pick of the holy trinity, and by someone who I was big fan of in my youth, never really cared for him in this incarnation, until now.
