Vegetables challenge

In his autobiography Spike Milligan described how, in his army basic training, punishment duty meant spud-bashing - peeling potatoes.
Apparently they thought it was hilarious to peel them to the size of a pea but it made no difference as the peelings were cooked along with the potatoes.
So here we are, 'Potatoes a la army (1939)'.
