For ten weeks, I will be an intern for the Foundation for Sustainable Development! My summer will be spent in Las Salinas, Nicaragua working for the local health clinic (Centro de Salud, Las Salinas). I come from Wenatchee, Washington and I am a senior at the University of Idaho. While in Las Salinas, I will finish my degree in International Studies with a minor in Biology and Spanish. My plan is to eventually become a medical professional; however I am not certain if I want to become a nurse or a doctor at this time. I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve the Las Salinas community at the local health clinic and gaining a different healthcare experience from the American healthcare system. This past semester, I did academic research on maternal and child health in Central America, and will be bringing this knowledge to the Las Salinas health clinic this summer. Two winters ago, I spent a few weeks in Romania working at an orphanage. I have also spent several months in the states along the Gulf of Mexico, helping communities rebuild after the devastating hurricanes in the past years. Through these experiences, I have learned about the importance of relationships in life. I am looking forward to creating new relationships with those in the community, especially with my host family. Thanks for tuning in and I hope you enjoy the show. I will do my best to keep ya'll up to date on my adventure(s) in Nicaragua this summer. I return in the beginning of August. I am uncertain the exact date. Again, I will do my best to keep you updated.

Cheers,
