I live surrounded by beautiful countryside in a Scottish village just north of Glasgow. 

In 2021, I decided to take a  phone photo each day on my daily walk, but had no idea what to do with them until I discovered Blipfoto.

My daily blip has become part of my life. I enjoy reading your journals and I love the positive and welcoming community.

After a year I bought a Panasonic compact zoom camera and started to learn about 'proper' photography.  At the start of 2025 I got my lovely Canon R7 mirrorless camera and a 100-400 telescopic zoom lens which is small enough to carry around the countryside. I also started learning how to edit with Lightroom and Affinity. I don't know if my photographs are any better but I've had a lot of fun trying different things. I particularly love being able to take clearer photos of birds.

I still use my phone for family photos, and the Panasonic can fit into my pocket on rainy days.

By the way my name is not really Cherry! 
Cherry Ripe was the name of our first sailing boat. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
