Shy and retiring type, avid reader and writer. Married to Jane with 3 wonderful children, known as child 1,2 and 3, or evil little darlings! We have a dog called Bod, and we all live in Penrith in the North of England.  

I studied a PhD in English literature, focusing on the role of the videogame as a form of literary entertainment, and driving a taxi part-time to earn some extra money to pay for fripperies like the mortgage and food.  I am also a local councillor, and am passionate about a vast range of things from archaeology to renewable energy.

After my PhD finished, I am writing - or supposed to be writing a book on Horror and the Videogame, as well as branching out into the studying the graphic novel.

I am not a great photographist, but like different perspectives and like the idea of taking pictures that show this, and also improving my writing at the same time. I am particularly interested in 'social' photography, using my smartphone and the apps that are on it to create photographs.
