Hello everyone.
When I retired after working in education and no longer had my parents to care for, I decided that was the time to take up the hobbies I had been interested in especially photography. I signed up to do GCSE then A-level photography and have been in love with my camera ever since. More recently I gained my ARPS from the Royal Photographic Society having thought for years that I would never be good enough - well, you never know until you have a go so I did! I chose still life subjects of glass and flowers both of which I love photographing. Even more recently, during lockdowns, I signed up for and enjoyed thoroughly the courses on flower photography by Celia Henderson via RPS Zoom. I will have a go at photographing anything but enjoy still life most of all.
I joined a local camera club when I moved to the East Midlands about 10 years ago and have had various roles on the committee, currently Competition Secretary. I enjoy the companionship of other photographers and have made new friends who don't mind me stopping every few minutes to take a photograph when out on walks.
My husband and I moved to the East Midlands after 25 years in Wolverhampton to be nearer our daughter and family. It was a bit too far to move to Dubai where my son lives!
Our latest dog, Bonnie, a rescue dog, takes me on long walks every day and tries to be patient if I take my camera out.
I am a Scot by birth and nature coming from a tiny village called Dechmont in West Lothian although I also lived in Unst in the Shetland Isles for some time when my dad's work took him there.
I hope to be able to keep up the challenge of one photograph a day and to find motivation and inspiration as a blipper. I can't believe how long some of you have been members.
My best wishes to you all.
