I lost my wife unexpectedly earlier this year. She was my best friend. She was a blipper for many years, using the name "proudweegie" or just "Shiv". A good and close friend of hers suggested that I should take up blipping.
"Islandman" is a song by 'The Waterboys'. I'm a mix of Scots, English with a bit of Irish thrown in for good measure, so the name seemed apt. 
I know I won't be as prolific, nor as eloquent nor as witty as Shiv, but here goes..
