Retired (mainly).I love snapping especially natural history or back garden type stuff. My wife still works and is fairly patient with my photography obsession. My cooking is improving since I am the househusband. One son just married in Russia.(I hate weddings but theirs was GREAT) One other son working in London. Daughter in permanent relationship living in north of England so we now have an empty nest (except for us of course!).
I believe doing what you can now for you might not have a later. Travelling as much as possible. We have caught the cruising bug and keep our eyes open for bargains.
Wisdom from a Chinese restaurant manager who told me once about his friends who planned for a trip to the Great Wall when they retired: sadly they were too feeble by that stage to climb up to it.
I use a Nikon d5100 plus a sigma50-500mm etc. I fancy doing some proper macro so I will shell out eventually. It would be nice to get paid for pictures more. Dog World and Towpath Talk magazines used some lastyear but not enough to buy a new camera yet.
