show off.......
mind you, he has to look good for the ladies.
well this little chap really did impress me today. my luck so far in trying to get a decent shot of our feathered friends has not been particularly successful............and today is no different but still we must keep on striving for that perfect shot. but back to this little trooper. against all odds this chap stayed on that cement block and posed for about 15 minutes today and only flew off when i stopped taking pics of him. it was quite incredible. he turned this way and that strutted back and forward and in the end was probably as far from me as you are from your screen right now. after i had rattled of 50 or so shots i actually went to a burger van parked on westminster bridge just so i would have some bread to give him (well thats my excuse for going and i'm sticking with it). when i tossed him the bread he would fly up only a couple of feet grab it and land where he started. this is not unusual behaviour for birds around tourist areas but it was at this point i realised i needed an assistant. have you ever tried to throw the bread and then have the camera lined up and in focus (freehand) in the time it takes for him to grab it and land? no, well it ain't easy and needless to say none of those shots made the cut. so once the bread ran out he posed for a few more, i said thanks and we parted ways. this birds behaviour was so odd though that the woman who had been sitting on the steps nearby reading her book, actually stopped what she was doing and watched the photo shoot. for some of todays almost made it's look here.
well only two more days to go until i can have a proper shower again and i can get this sudoku table of my back. it wasn't until i went to the hospital today that i realised the whole thing is still marked in ink......i look like walking street art.
oh and one more thing, i'm off to see linkin park tomorrow so i apollogise now for the half arsed blip that is likely to follow this half arsed blip. if i can sneak in my point and click i'll try and get one from the concert.
enjoy your week folks.....................
