signs of love

Today was my birthday. I took the day off work and enjoyed a quiet day with my boyfriend. Even though he had to work a little, we had late breakfast and went for a walk to enjoy the beautiful weather.

On one of the bridges I noticed all those padlocks with names and dates engraved into them. I had never noticed them before so I am not sure since when people have been hanging them there or knowing what they meant exactly. So at home I googled this and found out that couples put padlocks on bridges as a sign of their love with the keys then being thrown into the water. Apparently this ritual was brought over from Cologne (maybe it's something that couples do in other cities as well).
