Eppleton Hall
On a quick stroll around San Francisco bay I was surprised to come across this boat, which was originally built just up the road from where I live.
She is a Tyne paddle tug and was built in 1914 in South Shields. She is steam powered and was used to tow coal ships into and out of the River Tyne ans the River Wear until her retirement in 1967.
Having been decommissioned and left to rot, she was then rescued from a scrap yard at Dunston in Newcastle and restored to a condition where she was able to paddle to San Francisco under her own steam in 1970.
