International Women's Day Centenary

I am not in the habit of making self-portraits and this is my first for years. I felt today that it would be a special way to mark the day if I could take a portrait of myself and my daughter Alice. I also thought that it could be the start of an annual tradition.

However, Alice is one and quite rightly didn't want to make a serious portrait (think the August Sander images are still fresh in my head) And the above pictures sum our relationship up quite well: often wrestling, often grumbling, often giggling.

I am pretty sure that I will not make another self portrait anytime soon, so I should take this opportunity to introduce myself 'properly'. I am Jennie. I am an artist and lecturer. I am a mother of two amazing children. I live in Leith, Edinburgh. I am most of the time tired. I am enjoying blip very much and am grateful to have encountered such creative and inspiring people. Sorry that I have not introduced myself sooner.
