...You can leave your hat on.....

Ask any one who knows me and they'll tell you that there's three things I don't do.

1. Dance
2. Dress up
3. Act.

So....why did I do all three this afternoon?

1. For Comic Relief
2. Because a pupil asked me to.
3. Because I like this hat.

The request was "Sir, will you be in a video for Red Nose Day"? What could I say?
Followed by "Are you ok miming to a song, Sir"? How could I refuse?
Ending with " "Can you dress up a bit"? Oh well in for a penny, in for a pound.

So after school today, together with hebs and several others, I donned my funny T-shirt and this hat and awaited the call.

"O.K. Sir we're just shooting this lot and then you and Mr.H and Mr.S have a scene in your lab". I waited and then four pupils armed with sound and cameras turned up, accompanied by Mr.H in a lion costume and Mr.S as a very dodgy female!

"Right we need you to dance around, a bit silly like, and mime to "YMCA", we're going to use your bit singing "It's fun to stay at the ..." and then we cut back to some other staff doing the YMCA bit", said the Director. Speilberg it wasn't but we manged ok. Then came the killer blow.

"Right, thanks Mr. H and Mr.S, you can go now"....pause.... "Sir can you get properly dressed again, we want to do a special bit with you."....pause..... "Can you sit at your desk and act like you're marking some books and look a bit miserable like, and then we'll turn on the opening to the song and you look up into the camera and slowly start to smile and bob your head about in time to the music and then start to get up, then we cut to the rest of the song"

Well it would have been churlish not to.

Now I can't wait to see the finished article.

We have a saying in this neck of the woods...."If you can't fight wear a big hat"......... Well I can, but sometimes I wear a big hat just for the hell of it.
