Cross-curricular Chickens
There are seven of them, and there's currently a competition running at school to name them.
Dopey, Sneezy, Sleepy, Happy, Bashful, Doc and Grumpy?
- Moving Image Education
They have been approved by the Local Education Department and have been fully risk-assessed.
Rhodes, Giza, Babylon, Alexandria, Halicarnassus, Olympia and Ephesus? -
-Geography
The eco-committee spent weeks researching how to care for chickens and what equipment was required.
Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Avarice, Lust, Sloth and Wrath?
- Religious and Moral Education
The children will be able to learn about how to run a small business by selling the eggs.
Strategy, Planning, Marketing, Finance, Team building, Commitment and Development?
-Enterprise
They will learn about where food comes from and why it's important to use locally produced food.
Adjective, Adverb, Article, Conjunction, Noun, Preposition and Verb?
- Literacy
But something tells me the children will choose alternative names.
I think that Rhianna, Lady GaGa, Cheryl, Jessie J, Katie Perry, JLS and Shirley (retired headteacher) maybe chosen.
The children do understand the importance using the chickens for cross-curricular activities in order to meet criteria for Curriculum for Excellence, don't they?
Or maybe they're not worried about justifying keeping them and will just love them for fun.
P.S Claire says chicken number 8 has now secretly joined the flock. So, I'll have to start naming them all over again.
