guaba

ive had a blog topic request: photos and descriptions of fruits that are new to me here in ecuador... so what better than the very first one i learned of.

walking most places here in my new home, you will find trees filled with these lovely and large legumes. not the most filling of things, but always a great little snack or way to fill the time. crack it open to find a pillowy white substance surrounding several large black seeds. suck the sweet white fruit off the seeds and move on to the next one! the flavor is sweet and i tend to think a bit like apples - but of course everyone has their own ideas!
