cookie failure

here in the highlands of ecuador, the skill of baking cookies is relatively unheard of? making gringos who love to bake an exciting commodity. as many of you surely know, baking is a favorite pastime of mine and i take my ability to make delicious things seriously. so just about every weekend ive been testing my skills with friends ? meandering the path of not-quite-the-same ingredients and some of the craziest ovens one has ever seen. needless to say, i have yet to attempt these and don?t think i ever will.

today we attempted one of my classics, chocolate cookies with peanut butter centers? and thanks to an oven without marked temperatures on the dial and a space of about an inch to determine the heat ? we finished the evening with some half burnt, half raw piles of cookie. at least it tasted pretty good despite looking horrendous!
