Hoses, loaded
Today was a special day dedicated to hoses. Our entire class was taught the basics: types of hoses, the variety on nozzles available to us, maintenance protocols, storage methods, and loading.
Fire hose isn't just loaded on a fire truck. It is placed deliberately in a particular lay so that it comes out cleanly, evenly, and predictably every time. When we arrive on scene, we need the hose laid out quickly and loading a truck properly is where this process starts.
A standard load is eight sections of 44 mm hose, 20 sections of 65 mm hose, and ten sections of 125 mm supply line. This is the attack bed of 65 mm hose in a "flat load". Didn't win the Chief's inspection (I estimate a close second), but a good attempt for first timers.
