Handy Man's Dream
4 SALE. HANDY MAN'S DREAM. MINOR RENO'S NEEDED. EASY INDOOR/OUTDOOR FLOW - WITH WATER FEATURE!
I had a busy day at work today.
Big classes at the moment. You can see the cracks showing on students' and staff faces alike. Tired. So tired.
A call, asked to navigate for an out of towner who had to deliver Express mini-loos to some of the areas of Christchurch still without sewerage facilities.
To see people so happy when you give them their own loo is very humbling. I met some lovely, genuine people and saw some of the horrible devastation first hand.
In particular, a gentleman called Colin. He had lovely blue eyes and a face I would have loved to photograph. Of course, given the circumstances, I didn't ask. He was so positive despite the horror around him.
And this, a sense of humour amongst it all. Despite the liquefaction (which smelt awful). Despite the houses being condemned. Despite the sign that said 'looters will be shot'.
I felt very priviledged to be sitting inside the truck, away from the filth and smell. And also very small.
Night.
