Steam's up
I went out to dinner tonight with a couple of friends whose husbands were going on an evening on the 'ale train' - a steam train with a bar selling real ale, that goes up and down the line all night, chucking off its 'worse for wear' passengers at the end of the night. Judging by the rowdy nature of some of the inhabitants as we watched the train pull away, a good night was had by all. Apparently, there is a fine dining train that goes in the opposite direction at the same time - you can imagine the scene when the two tribes pass each other at the halfway mark!
I spent the earlier part of the day at the private view for my textile group's exhibition. I had to leave home at 7.30 this morning as there was still some sorting out to do before it was open to the public, so it's been a long day, especially as I didn't sleep all that well, thinking about Adam and Chisa. However, we had a very good turnout for the exhibition and although we didn't make any sales today, there was lots of interest and very positive comments.
I did manage to catch Adam before I set off this morning and check all was ok with him. No sign of Chisa's grandmother yet, which is a worry, but we are hoping she'll be safe and sound somewhere, just not able to get in touch yet. Still lots of aftershocks, and of course the worry about the potential nuclear leak, so we can't relax yet.
On the mouse front, still no joy in catching the little blighter! Again, he'd been in the trap, eaten the peanut butter, and got away. The trap was on the bottom shelf again. I wonder if the door traps him in there, but he bangs aroudn enough for it to come open again and then he goes - although why he shuts it after him is still a mystery. I think I can often hear this going on as I'm going off to sleep, but have assumed it's next door making a noise. Tonight, as it's already quite late, I am tempted to stay up and catch him in the act. Watch this space... again.
