Burrowing owl!

This fine little fellow is an unusual owl. S/he lives in an underground burrow, eats invertebrates (mainly) and is diurnal... awake in the daytime rather than at night. This is the closest look I've had to one of these... thanks to my very old friend Ben who brought us bird viewing luck today,
