Blue Hyacinth
I couldn't resist taking a photograph!
The Hyacinth originated in the Eastern Mediterranean and was brought over from Anatolia in the 16C. In the 18th C it had become very popular and the Netherlands was its main producer growing thousands of different varieties and colours.
In the past the gummy juice of this plant was used for sticking feathers to the end of poisonous hunting arrows and also for binding the pages of books.
Thank you for all your kind comments, much appreciated!
My thoughts go out to those suffering from the Japanese earthquake.
