Let the pressure pass you by...
Some people might say that the pressure was on today - with one image from today's shooting destined to become Blip #200 for me.
There was always a good chance that something would come out good, as I headed to Ratho for a long day's training at the wall - the last full day I'll have time for before a rock-trip in two weeks. James and I were swinging past Eastern Motors' Lexus garage, as he had an emergency exit sign to fit. I took some shots in the car park whilst waiting. With the sun shining, I was anticipating some action later at the climbing wall: Knowing that the diffuse light which permeates through the tent-like roof of the place should set me up well with the camera.
I had asked Rachel if she minded helping me out as a model for some bouldering shots for Robbie, a mate of mine who (amongst other things climbing-related) writes coaching articles. She was more than happy to help (Thanks Rachel!). So after climbing a couple of routes of my own, and quick stop for coffee at half twelve, I got the camera out again.
Between us, Rachel and I managed to can a good few worthwhile action shots, following the general guide that Robbie had set out of what he needed. I hope he's pleased with the result when I get round to tidying them up for him!
But I didn't want an action shot for Blip #200, so I couldn't have been happier than to see this portrait in between boulder problems.
Although the pressure may have been on for me today, it doesn't seem to have rubbed off on Rachel: She seems relaxed about things - just what a photographer want's to see in his shots!
Now the challenge is to get to #400, a bit faster than 200 (which have taken a little over a year). I'd be pretty chuffed if they all came out like this one :)
