...a Birthday Girl tonight..........

Blip world, meet Therese.

Today (20th) is Therese's birthday and tonight the Boss and I went to her party.

This shot is truly amazing, not because of the quality of the shot but because it's amazing that it's even here.

Having had my usual Saturday morning, getting the bait for tomorrow's fishing and shooting the breeze with the boys, I spent the afternoon sanding and staining the table that the Boss bought for the S&H, watching United play Bolton and then watching England losing to Ireland at rugby (between coats of wood stain).

7 o'clock came....shower and a scrub to get the woodstain off my hands and ready for the party. We were just about to leave, with me driving...well, I do have to be up early in the morning so couldn't drink too much anyway.....when the Daughter said "Where are you too off to?" How times change!!!!!

When we told her she said "I'll drive you if you like". "No it's ok thanks, we'll have to get a taxi back " we replied. "No it's ok, I'll pick you up as well if you send me a text when you're ready", she said, smiling.

Bloody hell, times have changed. I was so gobsmacked I forgot my camera!
So no blip tonight. But then the Boss decided she wanted to come home at about 11.30. I texted the Daughter and asked her to bring the camera! But was she at home or out at a friends? She arrived about 15 minutes to midnight..........with the camera.

Camera out, fumble, fumble, look for Therese. There she is... two quick shots, first one she moved and I only caught half of her....second one she struck this pose...click...... and then she was surrounded by departing friends and family. No chance for another shot..................but I think this one turned out o.k.

I first met Therese 23 years ago when the S&H was in her Reception Class, we chatted one afternoon as I was picking him up because, proud little feller that he was, he'd told Miss his dad was a teacher too. At that time primary school science was virtually non-existent and I somehow found myself persuaded to do a science lesson some time.

How do you keep a class of 4/5 year olds enthralled for an hour or so....easy....... if you have a skeleton! I persuaded my head that it was good idea to forge links with primary schools and off I set. I got some strange loooks and one or two near misses as I drove through town with a skeleton wearing a seat belt sat beside me in the passenger seat.

The lesson went well and happy to say the friendship did too and still is 23 years later.

Time for a glass of water and off to bed, up at 6.

Das vidanya moy padruga.
