Westerly Barns
West Barns from Belhaven at low tide. I got out early this morning before the weather turned and found the high-contrast outdoors just right for these high dynamic range pictures I'm producing just now. It's really nice that my photos are starting to look like my paintings. This one might be worth a look in a larger size.
Taking landscapes in a series of exposures is a pretty relaxed affair compared to wildlife photography, which involves stalking and reactions. Sure you wait for the light, but its not about to fly off if you look the wrong way. Very Sunday. A few more on Flickr.
The rest of the day has been spent around the house. I got nowhere near as much done as I planned, but I feel refreshed so that's a success in anyone's book.
Music: Back to Tom Waits. There was a Desert Island type programme on Radio 3 this morning featuring Monty Don. He came across as a genuinely thoughtful and knowledgeable guy and after a load of Bach, Beethoven (the gloomy later quartets which I have too) and Haydn came Tom Waits "Green Grass." I don't actually have a copy of that, so I did a search on YouTube and up came a beautiful version by Cibelle. Same quirky loveliness, extra beautiful voice.
Wait's voice has been described as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car." His Green Grass sounds exactly like that.
