You and Me

I went to Madrid to visit my friend Caroline for the weekend, my birthday weekend to be exact. I figured turning 21 deserves some recognition and so treated myself to my first venture into Espagne.

And it made a good impression, Madrid. It presented such a stark contrast to my sleepy French town, that for a while all I could do was wander around looking startled. I tend to forget that La Rochelle is rather small, only 70,000 or so, but it sure hits you when you go to an urban capital like Madrid.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of this park. It's a huge, sprawling maze of trees, fountains, monuments and people rollerskating (a fad that is long-dead in Australia), and this lake in the middle of it. We arrived to late to take a boat ourselves, but just in time for the beautiful sunset. Viva Espana!
