Through the Looking Glass
The last few days when looking through this window there has been a frenzy of activity in the pond. You've guessed it, frogs!
Today, on investigation there are about 30 large clumps of spawn. I pushed some that were too close to the edge of the retreating water to survive, towards the centre. I'm never sure if this stagnant pool is a viable choice of home for tadpoles, particularly as it dries up in the summer.
The bright reflections created a rather unexpected blip.
I have vivid recollections of 'rescuing' frog spawn from an old bomb crater and taking it home in the saddle bag of my bicycle, because the water would evaporate - I was 9.
Some things never change!
