Old Londontown

So, I finally made it to London! It felt rather surreal seeing that name on my plane ticket. Going to London is something that everyone does when they do their Eurotrip, so it felt like a rite of passage in some respects. And yes, London lived up to expectations! It didn't hurt that i got to stay with one of my best friends from Australia - such a lovely slice of home!

On our first full day we spend much of the morning exploring Hyde Park. It's beautiful there, it really is. So green and sprawling, and everyone seems to be in such a good mood. Probably all the endorphins - there's a lot of runners in London! These swans were near the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain, and almost everything they did was in sync.

We covered a lot that day - including Buckingham Palace, Oxford St, Kings Cross Station (for Platform 9 and 3/4), beautiful St Paul's Cathedral and Camden. I can't say that anything in particular was my favourite. There's such a vibrancy and sense of multiculturalism everywhere you go in London that I've not seen in France. Camden was a perfect example of this - I had some Chinese food for dinner from one of the stalls - a meal not had since my arrival in France 6 months ago! Ahh, felt like home.
