Punishment

Frankly I think death would be preferable to being thrown in the dungeon. Oh yes, the victim was literarily thrown in. Usually the action would cause them to break their ankles. Once in, the Bottle Dungeon lid was replaced so that the victim would be in complete darkness with the agony of two broken ankles or legs.
The lid was only removed to throw in something to eat and drink and then replaced. God knows how long the victim would be left there.

No, frankly, in his shoes I would rather be hung.
