The First Eggs of the Season

The chickens have started laying again. I have French Marans, which lay the brownest eggs of any chicken. Really good specimens (like the 3rd one down on the left) look like they are made of chocolate with dark chocolate speckles. They are always incredibly pretty. It's a pity to crack them - but we manage it somehow.

It's good to see the girls have settled in their new home, and are now happily roaming the fields for bugs and dandelions.
