In Between Days

All of a sudden the magnolia we have in the front garden flowered. A true sign that Spring is here. The flowers won't be around long so I thought I should blip them whilst I have the opportunity.

I only found out today that magnolias are truly ancient flowering plants. So ancient in fact that they developed before flying insects such as bees and so have evolved to mainly rely on beetles for pollination. Very interesting - well for me it is.

Day off work today. Used up the last day of my annual leave before the end of March deadline. I washed one of my bikes only to find a broken spoke on the rear wheel. I am not sure whether to ride it or not - internet searches throw up conflicting advice, so I think I ought to play it safe and get it repaired first. I went for a bike ride in the afternoon on my other bike. It was fantastic riding along a country lane in the sun, and this was made all the more enjoyable knowing I would normally be sat behind a desk at work!
