........this is a sign?.......
Not quite an emergency blip. I shot this this morning when I got back from the Doctors.
Funny sort of day.
The gout came back yesterday, so as per her instructions I booked an appointment with the doctor.
Got there in good time and was called prompt at 9.30.
The conversation went like this:
"And what can I do for you?"
"I've come to see you about my gout"
"Oh, have you got gout?"
Yes, remember, a month ago the blood test results came back. You confirmed gout and told me to come see you when it flared up again. Well it has"
"Oh...ok take your shoe and sock off"
I did and then I noticed what the Boss has always said about her, she doesn't like getting out from behind her desk.
"Oh yes that looks swollen, I bet it's painful", she said peering over her desk.
"It is"
"Well I'll give you some anti-inflammatory pills for it, and some others for when the swellings's gone. Take the first lot for seven days, then take the others for a month and then in three months we'll have another blood test"
"Ok, thankyou. I've got to see you in three months for a BP check, I'll make the two appointments together."
"Did I say three months? I meant a month. Oh wait, that's in the middle of Easter, we might not be open much then. I'll give you this and you can go get it done at the hospital any time."
" Right , so it's take the anti-inflammatories for a week, then the others for a month to stop it coming back, then go for a blood test?"
Yes that's right...and I've given you enough anti-inflammatories for a month just in case."
"Just in case what?"
"In case it does come back because the second type aren't powerful enough"
"Ok thanks"
And then just as I was shutting the door......................
"Oh, by the way, the anti-inflammatory will probably make you nauseous and very drowsy for a couple of days, so it's probably not a good idea to go to work today...... or drive.........or be on your own if you can avoid it"
Oh , well that's ok then........... when everyone has already gone to work. So I got home, phoned work to say I wouldn't be in for the rest of the day. took this shot, made some coffee and had a bowl of cereal and then took the pill.
She was right about one thing though, about half an hour later I was feeling definitely queasy and an hour later I fell asleep and didn't come round till about 1 p.m.
The second dose tonight wasn't so bad, and the pain's gone and the swelling is definitely going down, so maybe it will be o.k. in the end.....a month or two from now.
The sign is another souvenir from the S&H and YH's trip to China, Chris said they saw them all over the place in museums etc so assumes they're meant to be No Smoking signs, but the penalty sounds a bit strange...I will crazy????
