birthday buddies

as i believe ive mentioned before, birthdays here in ecuador almost always involve the birthday boy/girl getting a cake to the face. needless to say, i love the tradition - and can ensure you it is more pleasant than getting tossed through a hole in the ice on the huron river!!

as these two had their birthdays while we were off visiting our sites, we celebrated this afternoon. as you can see, the cake was demolished and their faces perfectly covered in said cake!! another successful birthday celebration here on the equator!
