Dichromatism

Not black and white so much as blue and yellow (I think - I'm no expert).

Basil went off with another random man and his dog this morning so while we were waiting for him to catch us up, Polly and I went to say hello to the Shetland cattle. Mostly they just ignore dog walkers and their dogs but this one suddenly came over to us so I took a few shots (you know you've got it bad when you take pictures rather than getting out of the way of a cow with horns!).

They're very peaceful creatures actually and I did wonder if this chap just wanted me to pet him. I nearly did but then thought better of it. Apparently, grazing animals have a visual system that provides excellent distance vision but relatively weak eye muscles inhibit their ability to focus quickly on nearby objects. I suspect therefore he was just getting me into focus.

Study Day today (boning up on bones!), although I have to go into work for a meeting for a couple of hours this afternoon.
