Mystery Plant

Every year this plant pops up in a bit of pathway that we rarely use. It survives for a few weeks until it gets trodden on or pecked by the chickens then it disappears again under the gravel for 11 months.

I didn't put it there so its either a wild plant or its self seeded from a neighbours garden.

Does anyone know what it is ??
