Stubborn
"Stuck?" asked Nick. "How do you mean?"
"Well, this might sound disloyal, coming from his gran, but he's hardly done much with his life so far. I know you haven't seen him for a while, but he's still a bright lad - it's just that he's got himself in a bit of a dead end.
"Oh, he's got big dreams, but he's doing nothing to make them happen. Talks about writing a screenplay, but all he does is watch films, as far as I can see. As for his job - well, what can you say?"
"Nothing wrong with working in a petrol station," countered Nick.
"I agree," replied Molly. "But it's a funny way of getting into the film business, don't you think?"
Nick nodded. "I see what you mean. But what do you want me to do about it? What can I do?"
"Talk to him. When - if - we get all this sorted out, will you talk to him? You two need to clear the air, by talking to each other like grown men. Trust me, it'll help him move on with his life."
Nick looked uncomfortable at the idea of talking to his former friend. "Why should it be me who talks to him?" he blustered. "I didn't ask him to get obsessed with Sarah, did I. No, if he wants to talk to me, then fine. I'll talk to him. But I don't see why I should be the one to make the first move?"
Sarah put a hand on his arm. "Because, Nick, someone's got to be the grown-up here. You can talk to him, and you will. We both will."
Molly nodded approvingly. She liked this girl.
