La Dolce Vita?
La Dolce Vita "Italian for the sweet life" In Oban???? I think not!
Spent the day in boring Oban getting blown to bits by a force 8 gale or should that be Gael as I was meeting some of them!
Would you beleive there was a Tourism seminar in the town? Just reading the report in then morning I dispaired!
They were saying that the 4 best things this year that will be good for Oban are wait for it ! (remember we pay thses guys to think!)
The Royal Wedding!!!!!!!! I ask you? unless Wullie and Katie are going to homeymoon in one of the many Oban hotels owned by Wallace Arnold etc I think not!
The Olympics!!!!! (seriously guys & we pay money for this!) Has anyone told these eejits that like the wedding the Olympics are in LONDON! and at the price folks wil be paying for a ticket I dont think they wil be venturing too far out of London
The Commonwealth Games (at least they are in Scotland but in Glasgow! though Oban town plonkers could possibly run a campaign to the effect.
"Come to Oban at least you wont get mugged" and as for the fourth thing, ...I have forgotten it
I dont even know if its still called Visit Scotland or what the lattest stupid name is but surley we can persuade folks to come here for better reasons like
Escape the over the top Royal palavaar and come to Bonnie Oban Bay
Come to Oban and run the four minute mile along Ganavan sands (ist small enough)
Go for the high jump and visit Nicholosn's Leap on the beautiful island of South Uist
The Royal Wedding...leave the rats raceing behind & step onto the Sands of Vatersay
For the price of an Olympic ticket ...you can visit 28 Scottish Islands, go on a cruise possibly on the Hebridean Princess (an old CalMac ferry no matter how they paint it!)
Sure we have loads of possibilities over those quoted by these dumbos at the Tourism Conference!
Oh and by the way like Greece home to the real Olympics...Oban has a Colleseum too!
Maybe we do need a bit of the Dolce Vitas !
Have a good evening all
