Slush Fest

With temperatures that would be welcome in an English summer it didn't take long for the pistes to get properly slushed up. The gentler ones that don't get moguled to death are actually really good fun. The Face was closed in the afternoon due to avalanche risk (I think that's snow falling onto the piste from above as opposed to the piste itself avalanching).

The picture is of the west face of the Balme, the one with the couloirs and overlooking the Double M, and it shows how the snow is falling off the mountain's steeper terrain.

Now contemplate skiing on slopes like that where the snow hasn't yet fallen. On second thoughts, don't.
