A red phone box

Seeing this red telephone box in a small Derbyshire village today reminded me of times past when I stayed with my grandparents as a child and the only way to communicate back home was by going to the telephone box some distance up the road.

How communication has changed! Mobile phones enable us to be in contact almost at any time. To lose this facility makes us think we are cast off from the world! There is an interesting parallel with prayer, which should be like having a mobile phone always functioning in terms of the possibility of communicating with God. Sadly many of us don't make such good use of the facility.
