Vespula vulgaris

This chap was on the palm in the garden and didn't seem to mind me taking pictures of him, but then I guess if you know you can sting people you don't worry about things like that. I think he might have been scraping fibres to build a nest, which is fine by me so long as he doesn't build it in my house!

A lovely day again - I could really get used to this. I took the dogs out for an early walk over the common this morning and we're not planning on going anywhere else for the rest of the day. Bliss.
